The Yorkshire Dales is the largest of the ten national parks of England and Wales. The natural beauty of the area is protected by the work of the National Park Authority in co-operation with farmers and landowners, and the new development carefully controlled to protect the very special character of Dales towns and villages. Quiet enjoyment of the countryside of the national park is encouraged by the Park Authority and National Park centers provide interpretive displays about the area and a full range of local literature and material about the park. The Centers are open daily through the summer months, weekends only early and late season. Postal information including details of the programme of guided walks held throughout the season, the Dales rail service, and Bunkerhouse Barn project, can be obtained from the;
